Raising Aspirations mentor recruitment manager needed
In Spring 2015, Somerset Community Foundation will launch an exciting expansion of our successful mentoring programme, Raising Aspirations, to Taunton Academy in Taunton and Court Fields School in Wellington.
This innovative scheme offers children who are vulnerable to under-achievement academically an opportunity to receive mentoring and support from an inspirational volunteer from the local community. Regular one to one contact with a mentor has been proven to raise children’s confidence, self-esteem, academic and employment aspirations, and – ultimately – their academic achievement. An independent evaluation of the programme (as piloted at Crispin School in Street) is available here.
In September 2015 we will launch this scheme to Year 7 pupils at Taunton Academy, Taunton, and Court Fields School, Wellington. We are looking for a self-motivated and resourceful manager with excellent knowledge of the Taunton and Wellington business sector and community networks to drive this programme forward and recruit 80 suitable volunteers from the communities around the two schools to be mentors. This is a discrete piece of work offered on a self-employed freelance basis. Payment will be staged, and made against the attainment of agreed milestones. We estimate that the task will require approximately 80 days, and the time span for the work is 1 May 2015 – 31 January 2016
For more information and to register your interest, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for receipt of applications is 15 April 2015 and interviews will be held on Tuesday 21 April in Taunton.
