The very first grant is awarded from the Somerset Youth Fund
Almost £20,000 has already been pledged to the Somerset Youth Fund by generous companies and individuals across Somerset. The Somerset Youth Fund pools donations to fund innovative and effective projects that help local young people gain social skills, increase their self-esteem, overcome isolation and enable them to be a force for good in their community.
This month, our first grant from the Somerset Youth Fund was awarded to support five local youth clubs in isolated communities in West Somerset. Villages like Carhampton rank very high on national deprivation indicators for rural isolation, and the youth clubs provide an essential support for young people who are unable to access out-of-school services in larger towns. The 5 clubs will help 200 young peoples’ personal development, and provide guidance and advice on a range of issues, and give them a better start in life!
If you or your business would like to support similar projects in your community, please contact Mary Hancock on 01749 344949 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how you could become part of the Somerset Youth Fund.
