Youth Social Action Fund for Local Groups
The deadline for the next round of Youth Social Action Fund (YSAF) grant applications is fast approaching - Monday 13 November. Groups working with young people that may be eligible are encouraged to submit their applications to Somerset Community Foundation soon. The Youth Social Action Fund is open for grant applications of £1,000 - £5,000, and the programme aims to promote volunteering, fundraising and campaigning among young people aged between 10 and 25. Projects can last up to one year or be one-off events, and repeat funding is a possibility.
Previous groups to receive funding include: the Link Power project delivered by Taunton East Development Trust; Ilminster Entertainment Society’s Youth Theatre; the Power Through Music project delivered by Actiontrack; Wells City Football Club’s youth section; Onion Collective; 2BU; Wincanton Youth Theatre; and Berrow Junior Football Club.
The YSAF is part of the #iwill fund, created with funding from the UK Government and the Big Lottery Fund, and is part of the national #iwill campaign, coordinated by the charity Step Up To Serve. It has been made possible thanks to a £40 million joint investment of National Lottery funding through the Big Lottery Fund and from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The UK-wide campaign has been launched to boost the number of young people taking part in social action, which can develop the skills and knowledge of young people that employers look for. The #iwill fund is supported by match-funding from UKCF.
