Over £60k of funding approved by Somerset Community Foundation committee following the latest grants round

Somerset Community Foundation are pleased to announce that over £60,000 of grants to community groups and charities were approved by the committee following the latest round of applications in June. Our grants team are still busy allocating funds and completing admin relating to some of the projects, but we are excited to be able to share with you the following selection of projects funded.  Contains Art


Four fun, creative community events at Contains Art. Art gallery community courtyard aimed at disadvantaged groups and thereby tackling the lack of engagement and disadvantage experienced by these groups.

 Neroche  Woodlanders


A project bringing disadvantaged families from across Taunton to Young Wood for regular Forest Families sessions.

 Frome  Breastfeeding Group


Weekly room hire for breastfeeding support group

 Active Living  Friendship Group  (formerly Parmin  Mini Day Centre)


Subsidised transport to day centre sessions 

 Ashcott Village Hall


Kitchen refurbishments for a well-used community venue.  Bookings have been lost in the past as the kitchen has been not fit for purpose.  Many user groups are made up of elderly members, U3A, WI etc and the PCC also organise Harvest and Winter Suppers for villagers

 Brushford Parish Hall


Hearing Loop for recreational and community benefit. The committee have received requests from new groups as to whether this facility is available, including a new U3A

 Clovermarle Stroke  Club


Hall hire, speech therapists and physiotherapists

Replacement carpets, chairs and tables for large activity room

Delivery of hospice services for Somerset residents at the outreach centre at Peasedown St John

New Goldies sessions at Priorswood Community Centre in Taunton and continuation of sessions in Shepton Mallet and Yeovil

Upgrade of kitchen area to provide to nutritious meal and offer cookery sessions to day centre members

Activity resources /materials, guest speakers, transport

 PALS – Pro Active  Lifestyle


Individual care, help in the water and help dressing for three new PALS members who have significant physical and mental problems.

Industrial cooking equipment in order to cater for large numbers attending community events (including monthly senior citizens lunch club and Christmas meal.)

Disability access and disabled toilet for Chapel Sanctuary which is used for a range of community activities
