Grants up to £300 for community Christmas meals across Somerset. Next deadline: 17 November 2017
Somerset Community Foundation is offering grants to help bring members of your community together to enjoy a Christmas dinner.
We want to combat the isolation and loneliness that many people, young and old, can feel at Christmas time, so we’d like you to invite those who you think would benefit the most from a community meal. You don’t have to serve Christmas dinner on Christmas day, but we do want you to organise your meal over the festive period when many other places are shut.
We also want you to use this opportunity to try and connect isolated members of your community to the support they might need. So, we are also offering you the chance to take part in a free online training course called Making Every Contact Count. It is about making sure you have the knowledge and confidence to have a conversation about health and lifestyle if it arises. The course takes around one-hour and can be completed by as many of your volunteers as you would like.
To apply, you will need to complete a short application form by Friday 17 November. We will let you know if you have been successful by the end of the month, so you will have plenty of time to plan your meal.
To be eligible you must have a bank account in the name of your group, a governing document, and a management committee of at least three local people.
